Does Staging Work?

That's a good question and depending on who you talk to, some say yes others say sort of. Staging is marketing, and marketing has been proven over and over that it helps to sell a product. In a recent article by Dave Ramsey, he states that "A recent study by the Real Estate Staging Association found that homes that were staged before being listed sold in an average of 23 days. That’s 90% faster than those that sat on the market for several months before being staged!"

In a recent article in Forbes, Vanessa McGrady tells us that, "According to the National Association of Realtors, for every $100 invested in staging, the potential return is $400.Compare that to the average sale price, which is a reduction of 10-20% from asking. So an average home with a $400,000 asking price will be reduced by $40,000 to $80,000. In the article, Vanessa quotes Betsy Wilbur, a California-based professional stager who says, “Staging can save you from a costly price reduction. A staged home will sell for 17% more on average than a non-staged home, and 95% of staged homes sell in 11 days or less. That is statistically 87% faster than non-staged homes.”
